We went on a trip to margate for the day, where we visited the Turner Contemporary to see ‘OPEN’ and ‘Sirens: Sophie von Hellermann and Anne Ryan.’
The exhibition displayed a variety of work by diverse artists who live or work in the surrounding areas of Margate. Featuring roughly 450 artworks, they include works such as paintings, sculptures, textiles, ceramics, photography and much more.
In the below pictures I've only included ones that resonate with my minor project, because not all of the artworks are necessarily relevant to the work I'm producing and there would be too many pictures to upload. These artworks stood out to me in particular, mainly because of the texture, materials used, or the way they've been displayed.
Pictures I took at the Turner Contemporary
The one thing I found unfortunate about this exhibition was that they didn't display any labels naming the artists or the artworks. Instead, they had a QR code that was meant to take you to a page online that informs you about the work. But when I scanned multiple QR codes the page didn't load and a message came up saying the QR code had expired. This was a shame as I wasn't able to get any information about any of the pieces I was particularly interested in at the exhibition itself.
